BTMC - "Oscar Night" - Thursday, April 15, 2010

Another Round of Applause.... Standing Ovation....

Fellow Toastmasters,

Imagine... You were standing on a stage. Right in front of you was a sea of people...hundreds of them... It was so bright up there, you could hardly see them. And on top of that, your eyes were almost blinded by the flashes coming out from those big professional cameras... The charming Presenter shook your hand, hugged you, landed sweet congratulatory kisses on both your cheeks, and with a never-ending smile he handed you the trophy and said, "Congratulations. Congratulations." You could hear cheering...people screaming your name...continuous applause...and suddenly...it became quite.

WHAT HAPPENED? Oh well...it's time for you to give your speech. You just won the Oscar! It's time for you to say something. Uh-ohh...what are you gonna say? Time is limited. Think think think. Another lame "Thank You" speech as most people usually deliver? Or something that will be meaningful that people will always remember? Do you even know what to say? You'd better...because whatever you are going to say in those 1-2 minutes will make you look smart and charming or plain dumb and boring. Uh-oh? What are you gonna do? Come on come on...
