BTMC - "Scottish Icons" (Thursday, January 28, 2009)

---------- Forwarded message ----------

O-genki Desu Ka...FELLOW TOASTMASTERS....
(read: How are you, Fellow Toastmasters?)

"O-genki desu ka." is the Japanese for "How are you," just in case some of you are wondering. ^_^

You see...we always learn something as a Toastmaster in a Toastmasters meeting. Whether we come just as a guest, a meeting participant, a role-taker, an Ex-Co member, a prepared speaker, or a mentor, there is always an ample opportunity to learn something out of a Toastmasters meeting and through our interaction with our fellow Toastmasters. Maybe we learn about a new English expression that we never knew before. Maybe we learn about a proper use of grammar that we were never aware of before. Maybe we learn how to motivate a new member who seem to be rather shy or afraid to speak in public. Maybe we learn about a life lesson from a story that a prepared speaker deliver in her speech. Maybe we learn how to be able to speak in an organized, effective manner in such a short time through our participation in a Table Topic session.

You see...there is always something we can learn from each other. There is always something we can learn from Toastmasters.

Last year we learned about a country called United Kingdom through our special meeting under the theme of "The Taste of British." NOW....let us learn something about that one state in United Kingdom called....SCOTLAND!!!!!! Whisky...bagpipes...the kilts...short-breads...Arthur Conan Doyle...Wet Wet Wet...Edinburgh...
