"Valenchine" Meeting

MINUTES OF MEETING

BTMC - "ValenChiNe" - Thursday, February 11, 2009

Falling in love !

is a euphoric experience for human, an important experience but a confusing phenomenon for humankind. In fact it makes me a headache !

Our most basic emotional need is not to fall in love but to be genuinely loved by another. When we feel unloved we will feel abandoned and ignored by our couple That’s the reason for us to learn more in languages of love so that we could have a better understanding of our couple and avoid those quarrels..

Let me share with you those languages of love ..

In the prepared speech session, TM Fetty Kartini delivered her Basic Manual 3  speech with the title “ Languages of Love “ which was very suitable to the occasion and theme of the meeting “ Valenchine”, continued by TM Matthew Horkey with his Basic Manual 4 which expressed his amazing journey before he ended up in Indonesia and has decided to live in Jakarta to serve and dedicate his life as a Chiropractor doctor after his previous work in Malaysia. TM Ray Asnar conquered his nervousness with his informative speech and finally won the best speaker of the evening. ACB CL Thomas Alfiandes concluded the prepared speeches session with his persuasive speech – Conquering the Cold Call with the title “ Value Proposition “ . Thomas really pulled himself in delivering his speech and seemed very relax and persuasive in presenting his product to Cindy who was the prospective buyer of his software product.

The meeting was opened with new Club Ex- Co Installment ceremony. TM Fetty Kartini was elected as a secretary of the Club and inducted by Area Governor  CC CL Ria Ardiningtyas. After the pledge, CC CL Ria gave a pin of Ex-co to TM Fetty as the remark of her new role. Let us encourage and support TM Fetty to take up this  new role as an opportunity for her to be a better leader.

What was really made us all thrilled is always our cheerful VPE  CC Cindy Resita who was being the Toastmaster of  the Meeting. There was a true excitement in the air at that time when everybody just tried to answer those trivia thrown out by Cindy. Everyone just wants to grab the piece of delicious chocolate bars which will be given as a gift to members or guests in the meeting who could answer her trivia. It was indeed a Fun moment for everyone who could took a bite of chocolate although he / she didn’t win the game, since the winner shared his / her chocolate with everyone else.

A Table Topic Session is truly an enjoyable session as well, Angpao envelopes were given to the audience and the ones who got a heart should answer the questions from TM Yulia Tanuwidjaja. WOW ! Everyone just so excited and hold their breath when they opened up their envelopes and finally got those hearts out. Questions then just thrown out to those people and the lines of answers could enrich everyone’s knowledge.

We could heard laughter and saw smile in the face of guests who felt nervous to speak on their feet at their very first time. I, my self will definitely remembered those moments.

Overall, the meeting was a blast and the celebration of “ Valenchine “ could lift up everyone’s spirit.

The meeting was wrapped up with a speech from our gorgeous, one and only President of BTMC Indriati Permanasari

“ Our Lovely President of BTMC announced the Winners in the Hall of Fame session “

TM Ray Asnar smile in charm while receiving the award of “ The Best Prepared Speech Speaker “ with his speech title “ Nervousness “

The Funny and adorable TM Bobby Kalwani received the award as the “ Best Table Topic Speaker “

WOW ! Two best Evaluators were awarded in this meeting ..

Mike Nicholson and TM Primadiansyah

What a night to remember !

BTMC - "Aal Izz Well" - Thursday, Feb 18, 2010

My Dear Fellow Toastmasters,

HOW ARE YOU? "Aal Izz Well," hopefully would be the answer. And let it not just be a sweet answer given to get by, but indeed it holds true in your life that "Aal Izz Well."

Getting tired of all the routines? Feeling tied-up by all the work deadlines? Bored of the same-old same-old? Unleash everything and relax for a while and let us have some fun together at The British Toastmasters Club. Laugh at those dry jokes your Fellow Toastmasters throw out. Add more if you can, to make those jokes even drier. ^_^ Encourage our friends...who deliver their next speech projects... as they try to move on and take their communication skills to a different level. Inspire others...as you share your time and your stories....through those small talks with guests and other Toastmasters or through your im-promptu speeches during the table topic session. Then walk-out at the end of the meeting feeling refreshed, entertained, inspired, ready to start your new day and...to have another week-end. ^_^

---------- Forwarded message ----------

THE BRITISH TOASTMASTERS CLUB
2010 INTERNATIONAL & TABLE TOPIC SPEECH CONTEST
Thursday, February 25, 2010
6:30 PM (dinner starts), 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
@ The Mercantile Athletic Club
World Trade Centre 18th Floor, Jl. Jend. Sudirman

My Dear  BTMC-ers, My Fellow Toastmasters,

As a Toastmaster tradition, around the month of February every year, every Toastmaster club in the world holds its International & Table Topic Speech Contest. The purposes of holding this contest are to provide a platform for speakers to improve their speaking abilities and to recognize the best encouragement to all, and to provide an opportunity to learn by observing more proficient speakers who have benefited from Toastmasters training.

Therefore, we encourage all BTMC members to participate in this contest as contestants. Don't be nervous...don't be scared... Just like in any competition, there will always be those who win and those who do not win. But the most important aspect of this competition is to use this platform to challenge your communication and English skills at a different level. And in the end...whether winning or losing...you will have won over yourself. On top of that...remember that if you decide to participate in this contest, you can ask for a special mentor, who is a more experienced Toastmasters, to assist you with your contest preparation. So...don't be afraid and don't think that you are on your own. ^_^

The eligibility requirement is as the following:

  1. Must be a member in good standing (has dues and membership application current with Toastmasters International by the day of the competition)
  2. Currently is not in position as incumbent international officers and directors, or district officers
  3. For Table Topic, any BTMC member in good standing can participate EVEN if you have not delivered your BM 1 (Ice Breaker) speech
  4. For International Speech, the BTMC member interested in participating must have completed at least BM 6 (Vocal Variety) prior to the day of the club speech contest

So, my Dearest BTMC-ers, my Fellow Toastmasters, what are you waiting for? Show me that you are not an "average" person. Show us that you have the "guts" to do it!

For further information about this contest and to apply for this contest, please contact your Contest Chairman, Shabrina Mukhlasianti at shabrinanina@gmail.com OR 0856 2288934.
